Last Month Recap
MBC was able to host amazing guest speakers since we first kickstarted the program. This month, we were able to meet Mike Wallz, an independent artist with 8 albums and a short film produced.
Mike talked about his adversaries and how he was able to overcome them as someone coming from different backgrounds and experiences. At every workplace, Mike stated, “you can be a minority in the thought state, not only in physical state.” Diversity has definitely been a big subject continuously being addressed in the modern world. A diverse workplace could definitely open up new opportunities of collaboration and growth, but it’s up to how each individual wants to leverage their experiences.
As young professionals walking into the real world, especially in a virtual environment, we are continuously encountered with different types of challenges, but Mike has many words of encouragement and advice throughout the conversation. As we work hard for our future, it’s important to know how to take care of yourself and work towards your own happiness. We should believe in ourselves and try to align your jobs with what you are passionate about. “Even when you have the physical freedom, your mind and your heart can still enslave you,” Mike says. In times of difficulty, we all need a purpose to continue fighting, so we shouldn’t entrap ourselves when we can take control of our own lives.
Member Highlights
Our member showcase of the month is Lili Milano! Lili recently joined MBC this fall and is currently a finance major and analytics co – major. She’s currently on the Miami’s equestrian team. As a junior, Lili joined MBC to as she really enjoy being able to work on real world problems as well as further her knowledge in analytics!
