It's almost unreal how we only have 2 months left of 2020! With so many important events waiting at the end of this year and so many changes that has happened during the year, we hope everyone can stay vigilant with their work, but don't forget to take a break when you need to.
Last Month Recap
We have officially kickstarted our projects with new clients. Even though this is our first semester working entirely remotely, our members are easing into the projects well. This week, we have started implementing New Member Training to help aid our new members for the project as well as act as a career starter for them within the consulting industry. MBC just started our first workshop where new members got to learn how to build a strong resume and as well as fostering strong relationships with peers and with professionals.
We are also very excited to kickstart our Guest Speaker series this semester! This past week, we got to talk with Blair Westlake, currently an executive coach at MediaSquareUp, where he shared his years of experience working in the entertainment industry across many big companies. Our conversations were filled with many of his amazing stories, accomplishments, hardships, as well as advice to the professionals that are starting out their careers.
There’s going to be a lot more amazing speakers to come to MBC with vast backgrounds and experience. We hope through these events, our members would get a feel of different industries and broaden their business perspectives.
Member Highlights
Our VP of Communications and Culture, Laura De Oliveira, has just competed in the 2020 Teradata Analytics Challenge. She and her team used data to build a regression model of COVID-19 deaths and a time series analysis of the number of cases and deaths to predict what those numbers would be for a 2-week period. As the competition was held in Switzerland, her team, representing Miami, had to give the presentation when there’s a 6 hour difference in time zone to the judges. In the end, they were announced the final winner of the Analytics Challenge through months of dedication, persistence, and amazing teamwork! Congratulations to Laura and the team!
