Welcome to October, readers! It is officially ~sPoOkY sZn~ in Oxford!

Our consultants have hit the ground running with their projects. We are working with some great companies this semester - go check our our Projects page for more details!


 

Last Month's Recap


September went by fast - we gained 12 new members and began our projects for our clients. We have 7 projects, working with various companies from all around the US! Our members are off to a great start and we can't wait to see their progress throughout October!

 

Member Showcase

Ethan Black

Hometown:

Columbus, Ohio


Majors/minors:

Major: Finance

Minor: Business Analytics


What did you do this summer?

I was a Finance Analytics intern supporting Retail Banking at PNC Financial Services at their headquarters in downtown Pittsburgh, PA.


Other extracurriculars other than MBC:

I am in the fraternity Delta Chi. I am also in the Scholar Leaders program and Core group with Crossroads Church.


Dream job and/or city post-graduation:

Advisory/consultant position for a large firm in Columbus, OH.


If you could make a rule for a day that the world had to follow, what would it be?

Everyone would need to volunteer that day for 1 hour.


What part of your project are you most excited for this semester?

This is the first semester of the MBC portfolio, and I am very excited to help start this team. I am looking forward to learning about investing, and getting a successful portfolio up and running.



Alyson Kettels

Findlay, OH


Majors/minors:

Business Undecided


What did you do this summer?

Nannied 3 kids!

Best Buddies, Women in Business


Dream job and/or city post-graduation:

Corporate Event Planner


If you could make a rule for a day that the world had to follow, what would it be?

Do everything with good intent!


What are you most excited for about your project?

Learning about all the work that goes into creating a startup company like OR Plus.



Ian Langevin

Hometown:

Zionsville, Indiana


Majors/minors:

Supply Chain and Psychology Double Major


What did you do this summer?

I was a Field Operation Intern at FedEx Freight. My work focused around trap freight reduction through data analysis and process improvements.


Other extracurriculars other than MBC:

Director of Consulting at the TAMID Group, and Research Assistant for the Psychology Department’s JDM lab.


Dream job and/or city post-graduation:

Somewhere that provides me with new challenges every day and has a Wendy’s within walking distance.


If you could make a rule for a day that the world had to follow, what would it be?

The floor is lava.


What part of your project are you most excited for this semester?

Seeing every new member class break into projects more comfortable and confident than the last.



Scott Storey

Hometown:

Cincinnati, Ohio


Majors/minors:

Double Major in Finance and Data Analytics


What did you do this summer?

This summer, I worked in Madrid, Spain for CBRE, a real estate company headquartered in the United States. I worked in Capital Markets while exploring two different sectors within it. I was able to work alongside senior level management in evaluating different portfolios valued at over $150 million. While in Spain, I traveled all across Europe to various places including Portugal, Italy, and the Netherlands.


Other extracurriculars other than MBC:

Executive Social Chair and VP of Finance for Alpha Delta Phi. I enjoy snowboarding as well as playing intramural football and softball.


Dream job and/or city post-graduation:

My dream job post-graduation would be a consultant working in strategy and operations either in Chicago or somewhere on the West Coast.


If you could make a rule for a day that the world had to follow, what would it be?

If I could make a rule for a day that the world had to follow I think it would be for everyone to be non-judgmental.


What part of your project this semester most excites you?

The part of SwanLeap that most excites me is the website search optimization.

Member Highlights




Executive board member Macey Neubauer is also a member of Best Buddies, which is a national club where college students match with a person with intellectual or developmental disabilities and fosters a relationship with them. This month, Macey went horseback riding with her match, Laura. She hasn't been horseback riding since she was a little girl and enjoyed riding again!





This month a senior member of MBC founded a new organization at Miami. Jordyn has been running her side business for the last year and a half doing website consulting. She found a lack of resources, support, and community around students running their own businesses. Side hustle club creates a community of entrepreneurs who are running their own businesses and gives them the resources they need to succeed. Side hustle club also connects student entrepreneurs with real life mentors who went through similar experiences.
